The second race of the UCA 2021/22 Regatta League was held with about fifty participants

Last Friday, November 12, took place the second round of the UCA Regatta League organized by the Vice Rectorate of Culture through the Nautical Campus and the Sports Area. Fifty participants from the university community (students, PDI and PAS) were able to enjoy a nautical day where twelve Raquero type boats were able to sail a windward-leeward course in the waters of the Club Nautico Puerto Elcano. The Vice-rectorships of Culture and Digitalization and Infrastructures with this model of activity seek to promote the sport of sailing among the university community and call for sports participation in a unique and emblematic location of our province available to all.

A light westerly wind throughout the day allowed a regatta with a great sporting atmosphere. The boat of skipper Marta Torres Lijo (School of Naval and Oceanic Engineering) dominated the race with two first places that gave her the victory. Behind her were the boat of skipper David Osuna de Alba (Faculty of Law) with two second places and a tie for third place with skipper Jaime Yrayzoz Roldán (School of Naval and Oceanic Engineering) and the boat of skipper María Palou Ruiz (Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication).

The race had the invaluable collaboration of the Municipal Institute of Sports of the City of Cadiz and the technicians of the Club Nautico Puerto Elcano.

The next regatta is scheduled for Thursday, December 2.
