II Sancti Petri Branch Festival

The Nautical Campus of the UCA participated in the II Rowing Festival held in Sancti Petri on May 22nd.

The beach of Sancti Petri hosted on Sunday May 22 the second edition of the Rowing Festival, an activity of nautical tourism, inclusive and environmental organized by the Association of Tourist Companies of Cadiz, with the collaboration of the City of Chiclana, the City of San Fernando and the Junta de Andalucía. This was announced by the mayor of Chiclana and deputy of Tourism, José María Román; the delegate of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Junta de Andalucía, Ana Bertón; the delegate of Tourism of San Fernando, María Regla Moreno; the president of the Association of Tourist Companies of Cadiz, Marta Garat; and the director of the Secretariat of the Nautical Fields of the UCA, Julio Conde.

In this sense, after the first edition held in 2019, during the day on Sunday, May 22, 2022, interested people could enjoy various nautical and environmental activities, with visits to Punta del Boqueron and the castle of Sancti Petri with rowing boats.

Once the participants were welcomed, they proceeded to the collection of waste and activities on the beach of Sancti Petri and the departure of rowing boats to the Punta del Boqueron, where environmental actions were carried out. Later crossed from the pontoon of Sancti Petri to the other side of the Punta del Boqueron and then was the departure of rowing boats to the castle of Sancti Petri. The last part of the tour was with the rowing boats from the castle of Sancti Petri to the other side. The Rowing Festival concluded with a seafood lunch at the Chiringuito Bongo.

Julio Conde, director of the Secretariat of the Nautical Campus of the UCA, thanked the AETC that “has counted with the University of Cadiz in this event, because it is important these public-private partnerships that help our students.” “Surely the volunteers and participants of the UCA will have an unforgettable experience.” For this part, said Nautical Campus provided 6 kayaks and 2 paddle surf boards for use during the event, with their corresponding sets of paddles and life jackets.
